Kisekae.org is a browser-based KiSS set viewer and collection of KiSS dolls.
Kisekae refers to the Japanese term ‘kisekae ningyou’ for “dress-up dolls.” KiSS refers to the Kisekae Set System (abbreviated as KiSS), which was a somewhat popular way of creating and distributing virtual paper dolls in the 1990s and early 2000s.
A KiSS set is a virtual paper doll distributed in an .lzh
archive file. Many KiSS sets are anime-inspired, particularly for
popular series like Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura, and more. There are also a huge number of original characters.
The kisekae.org viewer supports the KISS General Specification and portions of the FKiSS levels 1 and 2 specification. Most of level 1 is suppored, with limited implementation of level 2. .wav
and .midi
files, most commonly used in KiSS data, are supported.
